Is that possible? I have been surfing Google and with current legislative changes, people are uncertain, or have conflicting opinions. If anyone can answer this, feel free to clue me in.
My son is 40% Service Connected, 6 years Army, less than six months of it, post 9/11. He's applying for the "conversion" hoping it will give him 40% Benefits for one school year.
He applied for, and was qualified for Voc. Rehab. entering his second year of college. They didn't want to approve his major, because it was a BFA, not BA, so he completed his Bachelors without receiving Voc Rehab Benefits.
Of course, Voc Rehab was quite correct, and despite the technical aspect of his training, a BFA in Film Production doesn't much enhance employability, especially in today's job market. Now, he's married a gal and moved to Kansas, where there is even less opportunity than the West Coast, for his skills.
He was 3 years Armor, 3 years MP, and worked security while in College. He now works in Administration at a V.A. Hospital. He's still in a job that requires no degree, and wanting to plan a family.
He is very bright and would like to go back to college, perhaps more science in undergrad, and a graduate degree in maybe, geology... something more interesting than this low paying, paper shuffling nightmare he is consigned to now.
So, is there a reason he can't still draw on Voc Rehab for retraining?
Any one know?
