Recently deceased WWII veteran's family had great difficulty coming up with funding to provide a funeral service befitting a person who has served their county.  I am trying to find out if there are any organizations that assist with burial costs?  My father in law also served in WWII and had logged in over 250,000 miles transporting other vets to appointments when he died a few years back.  Because of what we just witnessed with this family we are considering starting a non profit to assist other veteran families in this final tribute.  Any responses on need, available resources, or willingness to help organize would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.cem.va.gov/cem/bbene/eligible.asp

You should have free burial in a VA National Cemetary, that should also include a Headstone.

Check this link for complete benifits.

There are also specific companies or organizations that aim to help finance or lower the cost of burial for Veterans. I am not including any of these links at the moment because I have not worked with any of them personally and wouldnt want to lead you or anyone else into "trouble".

I don't think you'll obtain all the necessary information here. Why not send an email to other NGO firms like yours and seek advice from them.

OUR T.P.I. gold card allows for funeral benefits and for families finding the going a bit rough ; it is a very welcome benefit[Gives peace of mind].Australia has been VERY KIND and THOUGHTFUL of veterans from previous conflicts; but NOT Vietnam. The press made sure of that.

Just a country boy from Bathurst N.S.W. Bathurst was the first major town established after the mountain range [ known as the great dividing range was crossed]; It is now a CITY.
