My father passed away on Nov23, he wanted to donate his medals and purple heart to the WWII memorial. After his funeral I went to retrive them and carry out his wish, only to be told that my older sister had taken them and was keeping them. Any ideas short of sending her to hell would be greatly appreciated.

It's important to carry out his wishes, but its important to allow those to morn as well. I would let her hang onto them and when she is ready maybe the both of you can donate them together. Sorry to hear of your loss.

First, I would like to say condolence for the loss of your loved one. If I were you, I will be honest with your sister re: the death wish of your father. If she refused, just give her an ample amount of time to mourn the death of your father. I believe that after she has grieved, she'll understand the reason why you want to get the medals and other military stuffs of your father.
