1965 and I was in Borneo with 4th battalion Royal Australian Regiment........then 1968, I was in Vietnam with 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment. We flew to Vietnam via commercial jet and as we approached tan son nhut airport; we were all gawking at the number of rocket craters in the ground. As we alighted, there was a building with a massive hole in the side . Sitting in the hole were soldiers from 7 R.A.R; who we were relieving; a very loooooooooooooong cry rang out. "Yoooooooouuuuuuuuu'l be sorry". We sat around in the stinking heat and waited for the huyey choppers to take us to our base at Nui Dat .They came and away we went.  2 years in Borneo ; now 1 year in Vietnam.WONDERFUL. - NOT.

Just a country boy from Bathurst N.S.W. Bathurst was the first major town established after the mountain range [ known as the great dividing range was crossed]; It is now a CITY.
