In the Australian army. These "groups " were grades by which N.C.O's were paid. They all relate to Military skills; [ such as markman- ship,navigation and map use , the use of various weapons; first aid; radio voice procedure etc and observations made by Officers. I was a group 9 Sergeant and damn proud of it.
