Consists of 4 rifle Companies ; A, B, C, D and 1 Admin Company ; all of which are commanded by MAJors, ;In radio talk; commanders are referred to as "Sunray" 2nd in command are referred to as SUNRAY minors. My platoon was5 platoon  in B company and was the second platoon[ ie 4; 5 ; 6;] , so our call sign was 22 . During our time we never had enough men to field a full platoon of 3 fighting "sections"[ because of dead and wounded men] so we broke the platoon in halves with A section of 15 men and B section of 12 men . A SECTION HAD 2 M-60 machine guns B section had 1 . The remainder were in Platoon HQ. A section ALLWAYS LED during a patrol and I am prod to say that I commanded it.ThE 2 MACHINE GUN groups came in very handy; allowing the forward section to have superior fire power; UNFORTUNEATELY; WE ALSO TOOK THE MOST CASUALTIES. I WAS 2ND in command of the platoon and my callsign was 22 minor. i knew that if that radio squarked '22 alpha this is 2 fetch Sunray minor over"that the s*** was about to hit the fan,.A PRPOPER PLATOON; HAD 3 FIGHTING SECTONS OF10 MEN. EACH commanded by a CORPORAL; I was platoon Sergeant and somehow found my self commanding the lead section as well as being platoon 2/ic.

Just a country boy from Bathurst N.S.W. Bathurst was the first major town established after the mountain range [ known as the great dividing range was crossed]; It is now a CITY.
