1968; November; almost to the day and this thing came back to re visit me; We were a normal "stick" of Infantry and about to land on a wet paddy; Then " bang" and an R.P.G. hit the chopper just over our heads . The chopper slewed to the right and one rotor dug in ; this caused the chopper to go left and then the damn thing hit the deck ; spewing us all out the side, nearly all of us got out of it ok; 3badly injured; broken bones etc . it could have been much worse. This event haunts me and will NOT go away. I do all the usual stuff; deep breathing; self talk ; . but every now and then; back it all comes .I hate the sight and sound of helicopters; . However. the flash I get is not necessarilly triggered by a chopper; a loud noise can[ and often does] do it.

Just a country boy from Bathurst N.S.W. Bathurst was the first major town established after the mountain range [ known as the great dividing range was crossed]; It is now a CITY.
