why
« on: July 05, 2011, 09:49:39 PM »

I have posted 67 posts[ more than 1 perday] and I have not received one answer to any post. I realise I am just an Australian; who has blundered into your site BUT. I am a Vietnam Veteran. I am in a hospital and very ill and lonely. Iam NOT begging for pity. I was only looking for company with ex sevicemen. I have searched for days to try to find a site. ALL I am seeking is companionship, so I ask this question [why] why can't I get someone to talk to me ? Have I offended ? if so , please tell me. If I have not offended; FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE; at least make SOME effort to welcome me; even if you hate me; please do not be so rude as to just ignore me. IT IS NOT MUCH TO ASK.

Further; I would remind all members, that Australia has been an ally of America for many, many years; we are not strangers. In a way; we are almost neighbours; America only had to ask about Vietnam and Australia jumped into a war that cost us plenty of lives; both then and this continues to this day. There is almost no mention of the financial cost of that filthy war; BUT; Australian families suffered along with your families. One of the disgusting things about hospitals and nursing homes is the unbelievable loneliness that does ensue. As I stated; I am not asking for pity; I am a grown man and I sure have been through the mill of misery, as have many of you. I DID search the web, for a very long time; searching for a "home" where I could once again feel  the comradship that being in the services brings.. We have a saying in my country . it is " give others a fair go." Tolerence and a polite approach are a basic necessity of being a human being.

I dont think it has much to do with you Lex - its just kinda slow here. I dont know what else to do to make it more popular - at times I think of giving up on the site, but I can't bring myself to do that.

Hope your feeling better! Sorry its so quiet around here! And thank you for your service!

I appear to have been taken out of context. I DO NOT expect a reply on EVERY subject that I RAISE; [THE Mars bar thing for instance; the problem I have is that [1] Icould not get a reply to ANY post and [2] The Administrator was NOT polite enough to even extend a welcome to me in the first place. The subjects I raise are personal matters that occurred during a very unpleasant time in our history. As a result; in many posts; I tend to try and make light of a subject , so as to not invite comments about my Nations' committment. Compared to the U.S./A., our involvement was tiny, . However the war in VIETNAM caused a tremendous political upheaval here and the newspapers gave much coverage to Australian dead; especially conscripts[ draftees]. I will repeat; I only joined to obtain  some cameradie with fellow soldiers; there is NO other reason. I thought it was ruide that no one would make any remark; AT ALL; I took it personally. I am used to chat groups of a normal[ non military] nature ; which are very very busy; so perhaps the total thing was a mistake of my own making.IT IS NOT MY FAULT THAT THINGS ARE SLOW AROUND HERE; YOU could make it very busy indeed; if you desired to. If you DO NOT want members like me ; fine; the answer is very simple; just vet each application etc. IN OTHER WORDS ; KEEP LOUSY FOREIGNERS OUT . OR. put a small blurb in the preamble TO ward off strange folk;. like Australians.

Lex, welcome to the forum. As an American who has served with a few Australians in my past I have no problems with you or other Australians being here. So long as they can be polite and contribute positively.

If you have ideas that would make this site more popular - message me.
