Looking for some help from anyone who served in the USMC in the early 70s.

My father was a marine at the end of Vietnam, he passed in 1996. Aside from his children the USMC was one of the things he did in his life he was most proud of. Ive since started a memorial tattoo on my back for him and would like to finish it.

Trouble is, I can not find through a google search what Im exactly looking for.

The plan is to put a Marine K-bar down the middle with his dog tags hanging from it. I can not find the exact info that would have been on his tags. I have some of his service records but the tags were long gone before he even died.

Can anyone help me and let me know what they included, maybe show me a pic of yours so I can finish my memorial?
