I suppose that some folk have little choice than to proceed and have this radical surgery. I had my first Epileptic Seizure; smashed my right hip, about 6 ribs and my face. I Awoke in hospital and there were Drs leaning over me saying" how long have you been fitting". Me no understood and mumbled "what"? a voice said . "you have had an Epileptic fit, how long have you been having them"? Ijust said " never" and then the pain , and one said" you have a broken right hip" Anyhow; time passed and then I was offered a replacement hip. TO which, I said" no"; so many years of pain killers followed. Sometimes it still troubles me; but a pill fixes that. I still reckon it was better than having a replacement hip...

Why endure so many years of pain and refuse artificial hip when you can have an improved life having it? Some patients who underwent hip replacement have proven that having artificial hip improve their physical capability and it helped regain their confidence.

In My mind; my decisioon was correct; I do know many with replacement hips; knees. ALL say they would refuse if given the chance; this includes two females.YOU say SOME patients do have a happy experience. That is NOT my experience; the ones I know; are still using a comode chair 7 months later.
