I have been watching a few veterans organization web sites and have not gotten a good idea of what is in store for Disabled Veterans that are currently covered under their VA benefits for health care if there is a national universal mandatory insurance requirement for the general population.

Some news reports make me think that disabled veterans will have to pay for insurance even if they have none now although they have VA coverage. This is nearly the same as taking away the benefit altogether.

I would expect to see every veterans organization in full battle mode if this was the case. What about California's plan for mandatory universal health insurance? Is there any provision for a veterans exclusion from enrollment?
