When I returned home (Rhode Island) in 2010 after five years of service in the US Navy I seen many changes with myself and my family. I ended up getting involved with the Providence, RI VA Hospitals PTSD program. During that time I was fired from my job because I became more focused on my mental health treatment. I was able to keep myself financially afloat for almost two years relying on my savings while also job searching to no avail. My family slowly pulled away from me due to not believing in the PTSD treatment and was against the war from the start and felt negative that I took part in it.

To make a long story short my financial situation became so dire I became homeless, jobless, and after a few weeks my vehicle (Home) was taken. Since winter was coming I was lucky to get off the streets and into a homeless shelter called Solider On in Leeds, MA where I currently reside. I came to this forum for some advice due to the situation here jobs are far and few and duties here also make it hard to work on the outside. I see many guys that get sucked into here and end up calling this life. Trying to rebound from this seems impossible after losing everything and ending up here. Only programs I found were wounded warrior and the Post 9/11 GI Bill for financial but options here are very limited. Is there anyone out there that may have a better idea or guidance?

I seen many friends get out and become successful I am still stuck in the “Why Me, Why did I fail” part. I can’t blame it on family or my past employers since it’s not their fault I had issues upon returning. I just need some advice to help pull myself out of this situation.

Sincerely,
Ken

Had you visited your home after that and how were you feeling at that time? Were you feeling the same?

I have not returned home due to many reasons and I believe if I did it would make the situation worse.
