The security guards on Subic Bay Naval Base were for the most part Filipino base employees as I remember.  Up in the hospital compound these guards patrolled the parameter of the hospital at night with their shot guns.  And we were most happy to have them there.  We had a few problems with Huks and bandits once in a while.  This particular photo was taken on a liberty launch going to Grande Island.  1969-70.  It seemed these guards were everywhere.
If I recall correctly the dialog for this moment in time went like this.

Guard:  "You throw marijuana cigarette in water.  Beer too!"
Me:        " Yeah Yeah don't get excited Mr. Guard"
Guard:  " You sit down shut up.  No make trouble!"
Me:       "  Yeah Yeah, no trouble, me take nap, you wake when we get Grande Island.  Shit, you got me talking like you now."
